Level 1 Certification Training
Airborne & Structure-Borne Ultrasound Inspector (ASNT-aligned)
Build practical ultrasound inspection skills that immediately improve reliability performance, inspector confidence, and maintenance decision-making.
This training is designed for maintenance and reliability teams who want to implement or strengthen an ultrasound program for predictive and preventive maintenance.
Course Objectives
- Increase inspector confidence and consistency in the field
- Build a deeper understanding of ultrasound technology and its applications
- Ensure inspectors reach a standardized level of knowledge and practical competence
- Strengthen the role of ultrasound inspection within reliability and PM programs
What You Will Learn
- Fundamentals of ultrasound for predictive maintenance
- Leak behavior and how ultrasonic turbulence is generated
- How to locate compressed air and gas leaks in noisy industrial environments
- Ultrasound-guided lubrication techniques (avoid over/under-greasing)
- Early detection of mechanical defects (bearings and rotating assets)
- Steam trap condition assessment and common failure modes
- Electrical fault awareness (corona/partial discharge indicators) and safe inspection practices
Level 1 Training
A technology-first course with strong practical focus.
This 2.5-day course combines theory with hands-on field techniques. Using the Level 1 guide, participants learn core sound concepts and how they apply to
the inspection disciplines required for an effective ultrasound reliability program.
Level 1 outcomes include:
- Understanding basic sound/ultrasound principles
- Using ultrasound tools correctly and consistently
- Performing structured inspections for leaks, lubrication, mechanical condition, steam traps, and electrical indicators
